HSS Fencers Medal at the 2017 Laffite – Results, Photos and More

On Saturday, October 21, thirteen Houston Sword Sports fencers traveled to Galveston to compete in the 2017 Jean Laffite Classic. This tournament is only open to unrated fencers – that is, fencers without previous competitive results. It also included novice foil events, limited to fencers with less than a year of experience. Coach Liz went, too, to provide advice and strip coaching for our fencers.

The day started early with mixed foil and ended late with youth novice foil. Throughout the day, our members represented our club well. The tournament was small, and some events had only HSS fencers in them. Every women’s epeeist, and every youth saberist, represented our club. We also had half of the (four) adult saber fencers and half of the (two) Y12 epee fencers. At the end of the day, we took home nine medals.
